Best Xiaomi Presets for Portrait Photography

Portrait ready Xiaomi presets that hold skin tones while explaining fine exposure and sharpening tweaks

Portrait presets should babysit skin tones, not obliterate them. A good one respects undertones, keeps highlights on the cheeks balanced, and doesn’t crush the detail in hair. Here are my current Xiaomi favorites.

  • Peach Veil – Softens reds in cheeks while nudging luminance up, great for indoor window light.
  • Midday Shade – Adds cyan to shadows and protects highlights so outdoor lunch portraits don’t look sweaty.
  • Studio Crisp – Slight clarity boost plus edge sharpening around eyes; helpful when shooting at night with street lamps.

How to fine-tune exposure

  1. After applying the preset, open the Light tab and slide exposure until eyes sit around mid histogram.
  2. Use Highlights rather than exposure if the forehead is blowing out.
  3. If skin looks dull, bump Whites +3 or +4 instead of overexposing everything.

Sharpening without making it crunchy

  • Jump into Details and keep sharpness under 15 for selfies. Anything higher pulls pores.
  • Use Structure sparingly (under 10) just on hair and clothing using the brush mask.

You’ll end up with portraits that feel intentional but still show real texture—exactly what Xiaomi sensors need.
